In 2000, Ridley Scott chose the hills of Tuscany to tell the final breath of Maximus.

But when you arrive here, something changes.
The film fades away. The place remains.

In the Val d’Orcia, there is a silent presence, almost unreal. A feeling that is hard to name.
Some call it magic. Others… mana.

Elysium

This landscape has become an image. But on location, it is above all a silence. The wind moves through the grass like a memory.
And for a moment, you understand why this scene exists.

The nearest parking is at the entrance of Pienza, about 1 km from the filming location. (see map below)
A small road leads closer (chapel Pieve dei Santi Vito e Modesto in Corsignano), but it is restricted to residents only.

La Villa

Here, it is not the house that matters. It is what it evokes.
And in this light, something remains. Like a trace.

The house is located at the entrance of San Quirico d’Orcia (Podere di Poggio Manzuoli).
Parking is available right in front. (see map below)
